overview of heroes in rune seeker (p.1)

Welcome, The Chosen One! Heroes serve as the primary combat units in every battle within Rune Seeker. The ultimate goal of manipulating Runes and Terrain is to optimize the abilities of our Heroes, ensuring they can defeat enemy Heroes to secure victory. This article will introduce basic information as well as important and unique aspects about Heroes that players should know.

1. Basic information

Each Hero will have the following basic information:

  • Element: Each Hero belongs to one of the four Elements: Aqua (Water), Ignis (Fire), Aer (Wind), or Terra (Earth).

  • Hero stats, including:

    • ATK: Attack power.

    • HP: Health points.

    • SPD: Speed, affects the order of attacks and the Hero's critical chance in the battle. Heroes with higher SPD will attack first and have a higher chance of causing critical damage. Conversely, Heroes with lower SPD will attack later, have a higher chance of missing, and their critical chance will also be lower.

    • RF: Rune Force, or Rune Capacity. The higher the RF, the more Runes the Hero can carry.

  • Default actions: Each Hero possesses one of three default attack types: normal attack, healing, and idle.

    • Normal attack: Actively attack a random Enemy with damage equivalent to 100% of ATK.

    • Heal: Do not attack but heal an ally with the lowest %HP for an amount corresponding to 100% of your own ATK.

    • Idle: Do not actively act or attack. Instead, when attacked by an Enemy, perform a counterattack on that Enemy, dealing damage equivalent to 30% of ATK.

  • Skills: Each Hero has three default skills: Skill of the Star, Skill of the Moon, and Skill of the Sun. These skills can be either Active or Passive.

    • An active skill is only cast when the player uses the corresponding Rune to activate it in battle. Absorption Runes such as Star Dial, Moon Dial, and Sun Dial will activate the Star, the Moon, and the Sun skill, respectively.

    • Passive skills are always automatically activated during battle.

  • Elemental Affinity: Ranges from ⭐ to ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. The higher the number of stars, the greater the bonus the Hero receives from Terrain of the same Element as the Hero in battle.

  • Equipment: Each Hero has a set of equipment (gear) consisting of four pieces: Weapon, Armor, Ring, and Talisman.

    • These equipment pieces are default for each Hero, meaning they cannot be removed or replaced.

    • Equipment can be upgraded to increase the Hero's stats and unlock additional stat lines with more special advantages.

For details of Elemental Affinity and Equipment, please read Overview of Heroes P.2.

2. Some important aspects of a Hero

a) Attaching Rune

Rune are stones broken from Ancient Tablets during the Age of Creation. Each Rune consists of two Rune Shards:

  • On the left is the Absorption Rune, used on the Hero or Enemy.

  • On the right is the Creation Rune, used on the Terrain tile to change the properties of that terrain.

Each Rune Shard has its own weight index, ranging from 1 to 3 skulls. Therefore, the total weight of each Rune will range from 2 to 6 skulls.

A Hero's EQL is the maximum number of skulls they can hold. The higher the EQL, the more Runes they can bring into battle.

Note: Attaching Runes is an important feature of Heroes because players can strategize by combining Heroes with high attack power but low EQL with Heroes that are not as strong but have superior EQL, or vice versa, depending on their tactical orientation.

b) In battle

Players can bring up to three of their Heroes into battle. The player's mission is to manipulate Runes and Terrain to enhance the power of their Heroes while endeavoring to defeat all Enemies and emerge victorious.

The contrast between Elements also grants your Hero an advantage or disadvantage when facing Enemies of another Element.

Example: an Ignis elemental Hero will deal 20% more damage when attacking an Aer elemental Hero, and vice versa; an Aer Hero will inflict 20% less damage when attacking an Ignis Hero.

Note: Read the article on Elements for details.

c) At the Base

Heroes are not only crucial in battles but also play a significant role in mining and production activities at the Base. Players can assign the management of each Building at the Base to any Hero. Buildings managed by a Hero will gain additional levels as follows:

  • 1 level for Buildings managed by a Hero with a different Element.

  • 2 levels for Buildings managed by a Hero with the same Element as the Building.

For further information about the Base, please refer to this article.

d) How to obtain a Hero

Currently, players can hatch Sacred Eggs at the building to receive random Heroes.

There are two ways to obtain Sacred Eggs:

  • As rewards from completing quests.

  • By using resources to create Eggs at the Sacrificial Altar.

Dear The Chosen One, I trust this article will provide you with a better understanding of Heroes. In Part 2, I will introduce the last two equally important aspects related to Heroes: Equipment Upgrades and Elemental Affinity. Stay tuned!
